-Who are you dressed up as today?
The steampunk version of Lady Deadpool.
-How does this character appeal to you?
I like the character because usually he’s off book of what normal super heroes do and they get away with so much more in his comics then they would normally.
-How would you describe him and his power?
His main power is that they experimented on him and now he has, you know, regenerative powers but he kind of also went a little mental when they were doing that so… He’s basically just insane and trying to do good things in bad ways. He tries to do good and it usually backfires somewhere along the way. Sometimes he just loses it and bad things happen.
-How are the comics different?
The one big thing about his comics is that he KNOWS he’s a comic book character, like he knows what issue he’s in. He can talk to his little speech boxes. He talks to the audience. Like there’s one comic he’s talking to Bullseye its like “Hey, I haven’t seen you since issue whatever” So, that gives it a different feel.
-So, you’ve done a feminized version of it….
Well, Lady Deadpool is actually her own character. There are multiple…Basically he ended up going to different universes where there are multiple different versions of him. So she is her own character. She’s basically got the same personality, she’s a little bit different in certain ways. She basically has his outfit except she has a blonde ponytail at the back of her mask. It’s basically him in an alternate universe as a woman.
-You made this costume? How did you get into doing that?
I basically started small. I think it was 6 years ago, me and my two friends decided to go to Anime North. And we’re like ‘Well, if we’re going all the way to Toronto we may as well dress’. So, we started out doing that and it just kind of built up from there.
-What’s your favorite thing about cosplay?
You basically just get to run around in a costume all day. It’s fun. It kind of gets you out of your shell a little bit.
