Beth Fagan

-What is your character’s name? The Electric Siren...A Siren is known as a mermaid, or they often come in that form, but what they really do is they hypnotize people and put them in a trance and entrance them to come towards them and open themselves up to them and that way you kind of have control over people. They use their voice to control others... I love the idea of them asserting control without force. I think that's a key thing to me because it seems like they're very non-violent for the most part until... you know, sucking the life out of you. -How many victims? Oh, countless, she needs victims everyday. She goes out for victims every night. -We should be weary of her here in St.John's... Yes, if you get near the ocean then you just might hear her calling you. And if you hear your name being called do not, do not follow the voice. -Can you get away from a Siren? If you heard your name once and you knew what it was then you could have some control over yourself but if you've heard it more than once then you would definitely not have a choice. -Why did you choose to be a villain? When I looking at this project I could be good or I could be evil and I think in my day to day life I am a very good person, I'm not perfect but I'm a good person, but its kind of fun to dress up and be quote on quote "evil" to a certain degree without any sort of consequence. I like the idea of getting to be bad for once.

Nick LeBlanc

Nick LeBlanc -Why did you choose Gambit? Well, I don’t know how much you know about Acadians, from the Maritimes. I’m from New Brunswick. Most Acadians now are from New Brunswick but originally they were from Nova Scotia. So Cajuns, who are in Louisana, are also Acadians and they were brought there by deportations. You know that the name Cajun is a shorten version of Acadian, you just drop the ‘A’ and you have Cajun. I just always thought it was interesting that there was an Acadian super hero. There’s not a lot of French super heroes. -Do you like his powers? I do like his powers. As a kid that was mostly the reason, I thought he looked cool, he had a trench coat, he threw things that exploded but then as I got old I kind of learned more about his back story. That’s kind of when I started really liking Gambit character. -Can you explain his power? Basically he charges, he has kenetic energy. When he touches an object he can charge it with energy and then when he throws it, it explodes. He just uses cards because they’re easy to carry. He can do it with anything, he’s even spit in someone’s face and it khaaa- exploded. -What super power would you have? It would probably be something different. Like telepathy or telekinesis. It would be interesting to know what people are thinking but maybe that would be too much information at the same time. I’m a teacher, I have a background in teaching, substitute teaching, sometimes some kid does something and you want to know the cause of it

Mitch Hobbs

-What is the name of your character? Well, I’m the Brown Bayman. The backstory is I was a construction worker, long, hard, twelve hour shifts and I enjoyed the scattered beer after my shift. I had this really, really cold day about eight months ago and I was freezing my balls off on the construction site. So when I got home for my scattered beer that night I figured I’d warm it up by putting it in the microwave. So I put the beer in the microwave and little did I know it actually made the Black Horse radioactive. I drank the radioactive Black Horse and geez, I had this old pain in my guts, eh. I figured, ‘no big deal, I’ll just go on to bed and I’ll wake up and it’ll all be past the next day and I’ll go on to work’. Long story short I woke up the next morning and I had my rubber boots on and the inclination to wink and nod at everybody I see and the Brown Bayman was born. -What is his power? Some say, by’e, I was raised by cod fish. Rumor has it I’ve only flipped my big red once. I live on Jig’s dinner and Black Horse and I can jump a quart of wood in a single bound, smoke a pack a cigarettes in one single draw and ‘Buddy, hide your daughter, jesus, hide me cousin’. -Why did you decide to do such a specifically Newfoundland character? I would say you got to do what you know. There’s a thousand people out there, for the comic cons and stuff like that, they want to be DC, they want to be Marvel. What’s their roots? Why not be your own? I was raised to be my own. I wasn’t raised to be one of anybody else’s anything. If I wanted to I’d make my own. If we went sliding I’d make me own sled. To this day I build my own guitars. It just kind of carries over. It’s the Newfoundland traditional way that when something’s broke you don’t throw it out. You fix it. You fix it or you repurpose it. I encourage everyone to go out and do their own thing. It wouldn’t bother me if I woke up tomorrow and there was a million Brown Baymans out there. Guy Fawkes wasn’t expecting to be the spearhead of the hacker now was he? -You’re hoping to be the spearhead of something? Not necessarily, unless it is the Newfoundland Republican movement.

Amaryllis Lister

-Who have you chosen to dress up as today? I’ve chosen to do my own take on Poison Ivy. Something a little bit more fun. It’s a little bit more elobrate, especially with the skirt part. I usually have real leaves glued to myself. I really relate to her nature-wise. Ever since I was a little kid I’ve wanted to run away and live in the forest. I have always been into nature; a little too into nature sometimes. Her whole love of nature and her motherly nature to Harley Quinn.I’ve got the nature thing; I absolutely adore the woods. I wouldn’t be able to move away from Newfoundland and then I have the thing where I’m always looking out for my friend who’s very much like a Harley Quinn. -What do you mean ‘ a little too into nature’? When I was a child I was really into learning survival skills. I even did survival camps and I was always making lean-tos when I was six. All I wanted to ever do was just go out in the woods and make my own stuff; survive completely off the land including learning to hunt. I feel completely at home in the woods. It feels natural to me. I lived in Toronto for over two years and it was the worst because I wasn't able to get to nature at all ever. When I came home I realized how much I loved this province and how I'd never be able to live anywhere else

Amanda Spurrell

-Why do you like Harley Quinn? I like the character design a lot. Her personality- kind of crazy but independent. I like the character growth that she’s gone through. She went from being so dependent on the Joker to not needing him and just doing her own thing. It’s something I can relate to as well. From not really knowing who you are to knowing who you are. One of the things I really like about her is I’ve always said that if something really major happened to me I’m one step away from being Harley Quinn.

Samantha Payne

Samantha Payne Your costume? Steampunk Batgirl Why do you like Batgirl? Well, I love Batman but of course he’s a boy so… Batgirl’s cooler because she’s Batman but a girl and girls are way better. Do you like her style? Well, this is actually inspired by the 1960’s Batgirl. I love the old Adam West 1960’s Batman. Classic. Love it. And of course, Barbara Gordon, loved her character but just full body spandex wasn’t really doing it for me. I was like ‘if I could do that with a skirt…’ and I was like ‘Hang on,’ if I could steampunk it then I could do a corset and a skirt both of which are very flattering. And I’m like ‘ I can rock this!’ Do you cosplay a lot? I love doing it. I’m not the greatest at it. But at Sci-Fi on the Rock every year I’ve gone in costume and I’ve gone for the last couple of years now so. I’ve been in the costume contest the last four years I think. What draws you to the idea of super heroes? Besides that they’re awesome? I love heroes in general. I like heroes. I like to be the good guy. I enjoy that aspect. Like Superman is probably one of my favorite superheroes in terms of his personality and just the way he treats people. Like he’s the penultimate hero and I love that about him. He would take a hit to stop someone else from getting a hit even if it meant losing the fight. It doesn’t matter, other people are more important than himself. Do you try to emulate that? I’m not very good at it but I would like to think so. Like every person you’re going to be selfish sometimes but I would like to be more like that.

Serena O'Rourke

-Super power? I would have the ability to read minds. With that power I would use it for my own selfish benefits. I would play the stock market, I would eventually use it for world domination. -Why villainy? Seemed like a lot of fun…. I always thought it would be interesting to read people’s mind, to see what people actually think to see the part that they keep hidden from everyone else and that doesn’t go hand and hand with super powers. I feel like you would get jaded knowing people’s inner most thoughts therefore it kind of led towards villainy.
